PCC HELLAS begins a Pain Management Pilot Research Programme, in collaboration with AKOS Scientific Society

PCC HELLAS HELLAS announces the beginning of a Pain Management Pilot Research Programme, in order to study the degree of Adherence in cancer patients, who follow analgesic medication and food supplements during radiotherapy.

The purpose is to investigate how an electronic Personal Point Of Care as MDStation ™ can enhance patients adherence through patient educationand engagement.

Moreover, we would like to study if patients with a higher degree of compliance have a generally more positive clinical condition (such as better pain management, fewer hospital readmissions etc).

The Programme is carried out in cooperation with and under the supervision of Dr. Despina M. Katsochis, Radiation Oncologist (PhD RWTH  Aachen - Germany FEBU University, former Deputy Director of Clinical Radiotherapy of Aachen  University, Research Associate  of "YGEIA" Hospital  and president of AKOS Scientific Society (www.akoslife.com).

Details on the Pilot Research Program will be announced during the Symposium entitled "Supportive and palliative care for cancer patients" organized by the "AKOS-Cancer Treatment Body and Soul" Scientific Society at the Hellenic Cosmos Cultural Centre, on Saturday, February 8th, 2014, at 09:00a.m.
